It's the time o year when nectarines, plums, peaches and other stone fruits are in season!!! Plums and nectarines are my favorite! Today I have a perfectly ripe nectarine as my snack for work and I'm thrilled :) I didn't even need to do the paper bag trick to ripen it!

I ate chicken wings last night. And french fries. From Wing Stop, which I didn't even like very much! I only had 4 wings but I was in pain for hours afterward.
I had been TRYING to eat well and at least balanced according to the 21 Day Fix for 3 weeks. Yesterday was the last day and I stepped on the scale to find out I had GAINED 2 pounds. I was totally in a funk and decided that if trying hard wasn't going to help at all then I was throwing in the towel and having something fried. That didn't work out very well. I felt terrible for the rest of the night and the next morning! Lesson learned...again! Years ago I had eaten a vegetarian diet for about 6 months and the first few weeks of going back to a normal diet were rough on my system! In a month I'll be taking my next adventure in changing up my diet and hopefully I'll remember to be easy on my body! I know if I'm not I'll pay for it :) I never went line dancing very often because I was always busy working but when I did go out with my girlfriends, and their boyfriends, we always had a lot of fun! I've had a toothache for several days so something soft sounded appetizing for lunch today. While I was waiting to pick up my prescription for the toothache I found Evol Mac & Cheese and decided I'd try it. Overall not too bad and I'd try their products again but the truffle was a bit much. I check to see if they have a plain one next time!
Here's the thing-it's not homemade but in reading the box it seems like something you could make at home IF you were motivated enough! No weird or out of the ordinary ingredients at all! If you try any of their products let me know how you liked them :) For more info on it click on the pic! I've always WISHED that I liked coffee! I know that sounds strange but it's true. I was always envious of folks who needed a pick me up in the morning and would grab their cup (pot?) of coffee and be good to go! Or drink a coke and feel like they can take on the day! Or have a tea to warm and revive them mid-afternoon! Or Red Bull-GROSS! I don't like any of those things :( I can choke down some Mt. Dew but not willingly. I started adding Focused Energy boosts to my Shakeology recently and if coffee is even half as good then I get it now!! The bonus for me is that I actually enjoy the taste too!
Having had a rare couple of days off in a row I decided to try to make sure my eating, sleeping and exercise were in order before going back to work. Sounds logical right? Eating has gone pretty well. I've gotten some exercise and sunshine in-excellent! Sleep...2 nights ago I slept for the better part of 12 hours-WHOA! That's a lot of sleep!! I know-it was magical. Then last night I tried to go to bed early and woke up after 5 hours. Hrmph! I did deep breathing, counting sheep, relaxation...nothing. Finally at 7am when I hadn't fallen back to sleep I decided I would get out of bed and be productive. Today I get to take a nap which is fantastic but what happens tomorrow when I go back to real life?! Were this the only incident I wouldn't be to worried but it seems to be a trend that I can't quite wrap my head around. In other news of failure...in analyzing my caloric intake while eating on the 21 Day Fix plan I've discovered I really am a sucker for a drink!! ;) Not just the adult beverage kind either. I like to enjoy a glass of milk with dinner and some type of juice in the morning BUT following 21 DF that means that 1/5 of my calories are coming from beverages BEFORE a cocktail!! YIKES! What to do about that?!! I enjoy ice cold water but holy snikey what a balancing act! I enjoy the days when I get to hit the farmer's market and today was one of them!! I love the fresh mango I was able to buy as well as the freshly picked onions-they'll be perfect with tonight's dinner. The market was odd though. Mostly vendors selling their specialty products. Honey, breads, hummus, salsa, jewelry, yarn, waffles... I was looking for more fruit and vegetable varieties. One stand had lettuce, beets, onions, sugar peas and berries while one other stand had citrus fruits. That was it.
I've been trying to figure out the optimal time to start the Ultimate Reset and it looks like the middle of June will be it! For me having time to food prep and finding a time when work won't be too physically exertive is key. I'm looking forward to it! The weather was perfect today and I just wanted to say I enjoyed my bike ride :) We have artists come and go regularly but only every once in a while do they seem to really try to make an impact on the world other than through their art. The tour here today refused to have food from Jimmy John's as the owner is a big game hunter. They didn't want any disposable cups or dinnerware unless it was recycled and biodegradable and they aren't buying any food from a restaurant unless that restaurant also operates under those same practices. It costs more but it's also setting a good and responsible example all over the country.
There's an entire spectrum of needs and wants when it comes to our food but our choices are in our hands in most cases so be mindful of your choices. FINALLY a real day off!! I went grocery shopping so that I can make some healthy foods for the next few days and I'm going to get my first chance at 22 minute Hard Core today! Wish me luck :)

I've just started eating with the 21 day fix meal plan again so I'm eating healthy, enjoying my daily Shakeology with the focused energy boost(I'm so alert!) and I've stocked up on healthy snacks until I can do some cooking! I bought SmartFoods popcorn, sriracha beef jerky, and veggie platter and SuperSeedz! The SuperSeedz are delicious-my favorite is the Somewhat Spicy. |
